Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Monday expressed congratulations to Shinzo Abe, a former Japanese prime minister, on his party's landslide victory in the parliamentary elections.

"I'd like to congratulate Shinzo Abe, leader of Japan's Liberal Democratic Party, on his landslide victory in the country' s general election," he said during the inauguration of a Japan- invested automotive parts plant in southwestern Koh Kong province.

Hun Sen said that Cambodia is looking forward to greeting Abe' s official visit to Cambodia when he becomes the prime minister of Japan. "Despite changing in political parties and prime minister in Japan, Cambodia believes that Japan's foreign policy towards Cambodia will remain unchanged," he said."The upcoming change in Japanese prime minister will not change any relations with Cambodia."

Japan's Liberal Democratic Party secured a majority in the country's general election on Sunday.

The victory will give Shinzo Abe, 58, a second shot at running the world's third-biggest economy. The LDP won 294 seats, with its coalition partner New Komeito taking 31 in the 480-member House of Representatives.

The ruling Democratic Party of Japan stands at 57, less than a third of the seats it had before the election. Endi
