Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Shinzo Abe said Tuesday that he will hold talks with U.S. President Barack Obama in January to intensify bilateral relations.

Abe, who set to be Japan's next prime minister after his LDP won by a landslide in Sunday's general election, said the two leaders will exchange views over issues of common concern and other international affairs.

Abe made the remarks during a meeting with Japan's powerful business lobby the Japan Business Federation, adding he had telephone talks with Obama earlier in the day.

Abe also said he will boost Japan-U.S. alliance so as to contribute to regional peace. Endite
