The Jerusalem Police has launched a probe into an attack by two unknown assailants against an Arab teen, a police spokesman said Tuesday.

A 15-year-old Arab boy sustained wounds in his head in the attack Monday night, Israeli media reported. He was sent to the Hadassah Ein Karem Hospital for treatment, and is now in a stable condition.

Israeli Police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld confirmed the attack Tuesday, and told Xinhua that an investigation into the details of the incident has been launched.

According to a friend of the Arab boy, two ultra-orthodox Jewish youths were responsible for the assault.

The victim's mother told Israeli Ynet website, "My son and his friends were hanging out near the train station, when two religious-looking guys showed up."

"One of them grabbed him and knocked him down and hit him repeatedly over the head," she added.

In August, dozens of Jews attacked three young Palestinians in Jerusalem's Zion Square. The Israeli police accused nine Jewish teenagers of the attack. Endi
