The condition of Sochi Winter Olympics infrastructure facilities were under inspection after earthquakes jolted the Krasnodar territory several days ago, the Emergency Situations Ministry's southern regional center said Monday.

Technical staff were examining the structural rigidity, the degree of tear and the existence of hidden defects, the center said.

On Sunday, rescuers checked the Mountainous Olympic Village and found no defects. On Monday, they started examining the lifts and the administrative buildings at the Olympic Village.

Sochi was rocked by earthquakes on Dec. 23 and 26, whose epicenters were in Georgia, according to the state news agency RIA Novosti.

The Winter Olympics in the Black Sea resort of Sochi under the motto of "Hot. Cool. Yours" will open on Feb. 7, 2014 and run until Feb. 23. The Games will feature 98 medal events, 12 more than the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. Endi
