Visitor arrivals from China increased by 111 percent and China retained its position, for the third consecutive year, as the fastest-expanding outbound tourism market for Seychelles, according to figures released here on Monday by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Seychelles received a record number of 208,034 visitors in 2012, which represents a growth rate of 8 percent over the figures for 2011.
This increase has come as a result of good performances in two traditional core markets, Germany and Italy, and spectacular growth in some emerging markets like China.
Germany, which is the second largest outbound market for Seychelles, expanded by 20 percent while visitors from Russia went up by 35 percent.
Visitors from United Arab Emirates and South Africa increased by 52 and 17 percent respectively. Endi
