Five foreign badminton clubs will compete with numbers of Indonesian best badminton clubs in Djarum Superliga Badminton, local media reported here on Wednesday.

"Those (foreign) participants will face serious challenge of our best players from numbers of Indonesia's clubs," Superliga director Yoppi Rosimin was quoted by Antara news agency as saying.

Rosimin said the participation of those five clubs have gone through a stringent mechanism of selection, based on world's badminton players ranking.

Rosimin said several clubs were also allowed to strengthen their team by using foreign players.

"This is a good opportunity to meet and compete with high class players from abroad," he said.

In 2011, world No. 1 badminton player Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, joined Indonesian club SGS PLN Bandung and brought the team as the winner.

The five foreign clubs, which will join the competition slated for February 3-9 in Surabaya, East Java, are Unysis club, Reneseas, Tonami from Japan, Koran Ginseng Company from South Korea, and Malaysian Tiger and Malaysian Mas from Malaysia. Endi
