Portugal's stock market closed up Thursday with the benchmark index PSI-20 rising by 1.3 percent to 6,090.64 points, while main European markets edged down.
Banks led the gains, with Banco BPI closing up 8.8 percent, followed by a 4.7-percent rise of Banco Comercial Portugues and a 4.6-percent increase by Banco Espirito Santo.
The PSI-20 was also boosted by oil-company Galp Energia whose shares rose by 0.6 percent. EDP or Energias de Portugal and EDP Renovaveis increased 0.6 percent and 0.7 percent respectively.
Portugal Telecom also closed up by 1.2 percent. Endi
