Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi met Wednesday with President of Libyan General National Congress Mohamed al-Mugarif in Cairo, where they agreed to form a joint committee to enhance bilateral ties between the two countries.
"Egypt and Libya agreed on forming a committee under our supervision, which includes ministers from Libya and Egypt, and secondary committees in the fields of energy, agriculture, investment, industrialization, infrastructure and security," said Morsi in a joint press conference with Mugarif after the meeting.
Morsi hailed the Egyptian-Libyan relations as strong, yet lamented that the trade volume between the two countries was not high enough.
The trade volume did not exceed 400 million U.S. dollars, Morsi said, while noting that Libyan investments in Egypt reached 12 billion dollars.
Morsi also said they agreed to extradite figures affiliated with Libyan former leader Muammar Gaddafi in accordance with the Egyptian and Libyan laws and constitutions. Endi
