Myanmar approves sports events in 2013 SEA Games

Host Myanmar has approved 33 sports events in the 27th SEA Games, according to sports circle Monday.

The decision was made at the recent Southeast Asian Games Federation Council meeting in Nay Pyi Taw, the sources said.

The sports events cover athletics, aquatics, archery, badminton, basketball, billiard and snooker, boxing, canoeing, cycling, football, golf, hockey, judo, karate, rowing, yachting, sepak takraw, shooting, table tennis, track and field, taekwondo, volleyball, weightlifting, wushu,swimming, tennis, chess, bodybuilding, petanque, kempo and traditional boat race, but tennis and gymnastics are excluded from the list.

Chinlon, a Myanmar traditional sport, will be included for the first time at the games.

Myanmar targeted to grab 50 to 100 gold medals at the SEA games to be hosted in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Yangon and Ngwe Saung beach in Myanmar in December this year. Endi
