Chael Sonnen has renewed his feud with Brazil's UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva by claiming fellow American Jon Jones is a better fighter.

Sonnen will meet Jones at UFC 159 in New Jersey, the United States, on April 27 and admits he faces a monumental task to beat the reigning light-heavyweight champion.

"I think there's a big gap between them," Sonnen said on Sunday. "I think Jon Jones is considerably better, I think he's the best talent our sport has ever seen."

"Jon comes out there with something new every time. Some trick that it appears he's making up. Stuff I've never seen."

Sonnen has lost to Silva twice in the past three years, despite calling the 37-year-old "a fake" before their last fight in Las Vegas in July last year, which Silva won in a second-round technical knockout.

Silva is the most successful fighter in UFC history having not lost a bout since 2006.

Despite his lavish praise of Jones, Sonnen said he would stop at nothing to cause an upset result.

"I am 100 per cent offence and from the second the referee says, 'Go,' I will come across and I will bring the fight to him," Sonnen said. "I may go down, he's a good fighter I may go down, but I promise you I will go like a gangster and I will be firing the entire time." Endi
