Montenegro is gripped by a winter storm that has already paralyzed neighboring countries in the Balkan region.
On Tuesday, wind gusts of 80 kilometers per hour have led to road closures with snow drifts reaching several meters in height, reported Radio Montenegro.
Several people were trapped overnight in their vehicles on impassible mountain roads near the Montenegrin resort town of Zabljak. They were rescued in the early morning by road workers.
Schools in a number of villages surrounding the central Montenegrin town of Niksic were also closed because of the heavy snowfall.
In some rural municipalities, roads are only being cleared for emergency reasons, leaving villagers snowbound. Endi
