Trade between Peru and the United States grew 105 percent in the last four years, thanks to a free trade agreement that took effect in 2009, according to a report released Tuesday by Peru's American Chamber.

In 2008, Peru-U.S. trade registered 7.291 billion U.S. dollars, but the figure for 2012 is expected to reach almost 14.955 billion dollars, the report said.

Since 2009, trade between the two countries has increased by an annual rate of 20 percent, the chamber said, adding bilateral trade enjoyed rising dynamic despite the severe financial crisis that affected the United States between 2008 and 2009.

In 2011, 65 percent of Peruvian products entered the U.S. market through the ports of New York, New Orleans, Miami and Baltimore. Figures for 2012, up until November, showed Great Falls and New Orleans reported the largest entries. Endi
