At least seven people were killed and 15 others injured when a suicide bomber attacked a security check post in Pakistan's northwest district of Hangu on Thursday evening, police said.

Mian Saeed, Deputy Police Officer said that the incident happened at about 5:30 p.m. local time when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive laden vehicle in to a check post in Tal area of Hangu, a main district in the country's northwest province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The dead included two paramilitary troops, two policemen and three civilians who were passing by the site when the blast happened, said Saeed.

The check post, jointly owned by police and paramilitary troops, was destroyed in the attack.

Two army vehicles parked near the check post were also destroyed.

The injured were shifted to a nearby military hospital where several of them were in critical condition.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Police cordoned off the area and an investigation into the incident has been kicked off.

This is the second major attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday. Earlier in the morning, six suicide bombers were shot dead and two policemen got injured when a police station was attacked in Bannu district of the province. Endi
