Polish industry could have an even 50-percent share in the construction of Poland's first nuclear plant, head of the French Areva Corporation Luc Oursel said on Tuesday.

According to current plans the first nuclear block is to be operable around 2024, the Polish government wants to start the construction of two 3,000 MW nuclear power plants in Poland.

Oursel said that the Polish share in the project could be considerably higher than that of other countries in similar undertakings on their territory.

He explained that this was because Poland had an adequate industrial base and his company had already worked with Polish firms on the construction of the Olkiluoto 3 nuclear plant in Finland.

Areva is bidding for a technology supply contract for the Polish nuclear plant project.

Areva SA, a French public multinational industrial conglomerate, is a world-leading company in nuclear energy. Endi
