Tokyo Electric Power Co. remained unable to resume the spent fuel cooling system at its Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant as of Tuesday morning after the system's suspension on Monday due to a power failure.
The power failure occurred at the crippled nuclear complex before 7 p.m. Monday. It has not affected the water injection to the Nos. 1 to 3 reactors that suffered core meltdowns in the early days of the nuclear crisis triggered by the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami, said local media.
TEPCO is continuing its probe into the cause of the outage affecting the cooling system for the spent fuel pools of the No. 1, 3 and 4 reactors, said reports. Endi
