The Israeli army fired rockets targeting at the Syrian army near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights Sunday morning in response to stray bullets fired from the Syrian side a day earlier, the pan-Arab al-Mayadeen TV said.

A night earlier, stray bullets fired from the Syrian side hit a military convoy of the Israeli army in Golan, leaving no casualties, said the TV, adding that the bullets could have been fired from the rebels Free Syrian Army which has a thick presence in that area, "but the Israeli army has a protocol to fire at the Syrian army even if it wasn't the perpetrator."

The Israeli response came Sunday morning with the firing of Tmouz rockets targeting at Syrian army in Tal al-Faras area on the Syrian side of the borders near the Israeli-occupied Golan, said the TV.

The state media in Syria has not given details about the incident.

The last Israeli attack on Syria occurred in January when its war jets penetrated the Syrian airspace and struck one of the country's scientific research centers located in the Jumraya suburb of the capital Damascus. Endi
