Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will pay official visits to about 10 countries this year, Bangkok Post online reported on Wednesday.

Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul said on Tuesday the premier's travel itinerary will include visits to Mongolia, Madagascar, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, the United States, Canada, South Africa and Russia this year.

The 10 more trips will add to her tally of about 30 nations she has visited since taking office in August 2011

The government also has plans to invite the leaders of Britain, India, and Germany to visit Thailand.

Meanwhile, Surapong said the ministry plans to open new embassies and consulates in 28 countries, including one in Papua New Guinea.

About 500 new staff would be deployed to the new diplomatic missions, he said. Endi
