An international conference on aviation logistics will kick off in Vietnam's southern Ho Chi Minh City, from April 25 to 26, attracting international logistics scholars and representatives from aviation agencies and logistics companies worldwide, announced organizers on Thursday.

The conference will be co-organized by the Vietnam Civil Aviation Administration, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Association (FIATA).

During the two-day meeting, participants will discuss Vietnam's aviation logistics in 2013, and review opportunities and challenges for the sector as far as its security regulations are concerned.

According to the Vietnam Civil Aviation Administration, in 2012, the sector carried 17.5 million of passengers, up 5.2 percent and transported 201,000 tons of cargo, up 1.98 percent, compared to the previous year.

This year, it expects to carry 19.2 million of passengers and transport 214,000 tons of cargo. Endi
