Israeli officials are concerned that "Turkey is seeking to withdraw from a U.S.-brokered reconciliation deal reached last month," local media reported Tuesday.

The reports came after Turkey postponed a meeting with Israel on compensation which the Jewish state will pay to victims of a raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla that left nine dead three years ago.

The Ma'ariv newspaper said Tuesday that the Israeli government officials were pessimistic regarding the chance that bilateral relations would be restored soon, citing that Turkey continues to prevent Israel's inclusion in NATO and has not set a date for the return of its ambassador to Tel Aviv.

An Israeli diplomatic source told Xinhua anonymously "Israel is keen to repair the relationship... But I don't think we are being met with the same enthusiasm."

Turkey confirmed on March 22 that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has apologized to Turkey for the attack on the aid flotilla, in which eight Turks and an American of Turkish origin were killed in May 2010.

The long-awaited apology came under the mediation of U.S. President Barack Obama, who said Washington attached great importance to the restoration of positive relations between Turkey and Israel. Endi
