Britain's yearly inflation rate remained unchanged in March, official figures showed here on Tuesday.

The Office for National Statistics says Tuesday that consumer prices index (CPI) were 2.8 percent higher in March than the year before, boosted by price hikes in cultural and recreation sector such as books and cameras, as well as car insurance premiums,

The figure was slightly lower than the previously predicted three percent.

"The CPI remained broadly flat through the second half of 2012 and into 2013 following a number of years of large increases and decreases", said the ONS.

Over the last six months, the 12-month CPI data in Britain has been particularly stable, standing at 2.7 percent for four consecutive months before inching up to 2.8 percent in February and March 2013.

But the figure was still well above the Bank of England's 2-percent target.

Some experts are worried that rising food prices and gas and electricity bill could help push up the inflation rate in Britain.

British central bank said earlier that the inflation rate was likely to reach 3 percent later this year, and would remain above its 2 percent target until early 2016. Endi
