"The Government of Malaysia would like to convey its heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the Government of the People' s Republic of China and families of the victims of the earthquake which occurred in the province of Sichuan on Saturday, 20 April 2013," Foreign Minister Anifah Aman said in a statement.

There have been comprehensive coverage on the Chinese language media in Malaysia after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Lushan county, Ya'an city of southwest China's Sichuan Province, at 8:02 a.m. Saturday Beijing Time, leaving at least 186 people dead and 11,393 injured, according to latest statistics from the provincial emergency response command center.

Lushan is about 200 km from the epicenter of the massive Wenchuan earthquake five years ago that left 87,000 dead or missing. Malaysian people, especially Chinese communities, have provided great support for the rescue and the rebuilding process in the aftermath of the Wenchuan earthquake. Endi
