Jordan on Monday witnessed an Internet outage that disrupted businesses of some airlines and financial institutions.
About 40 fiber optic cables were severed late Sunday, causing a major disruption to the Internet, mobile and landline services, the Jordan Telecom Group said in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by Xinhua.
The Internet and mobile services are expected to resume Tuesday morning, added the statement.
Royal Jordanian Airlines said in a statement that it had to delay 11 flights to European and U.S. destinations due to the Internet outage.
Sources in the banking sector said some local banks were also affected by the incident. Endi
