Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday stressed the contribution by China and India to world economic growth amid lingering economic slowdown around the globe.

"China and India are contributing to 35 percent and 10 percent of world economic growth," said Singh when addressing an Asian Development Bank annual meeting here.

He also said that after 250 years of stagnation, Asia is regaining its position on global stage as a major economic region and it is destined to have half of the world GDP by 2050.

While they are playing a crucial role in driving and stabilizing global recovery, developing Asian countries have also pulled an unprecedented number in human history of people out of poverty over the past few decades, he said. Endi
