Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi will start his two-day visit to Brazil on Tuesday to boost mutual relations and attract investment from South America, official news agency MENA reported, citing a presidential statement on Monday.
During the visit, President Morsi will meet with his Brazilian counterpart Dilma Rousseff and President of Congress Renan Calheiros, MENA quoted presidential spokesman Ehab Fahmy as saying.
This will be the first visit by an Egyptian president to Brazil, the spokesman said, noting that it is a part of a new strategy Egypt has been adopting to strengthen its relations with different international and regional powers.
Morsi originally planned to visit Brazil last September following the UN General Assembly meetings but postponed the trip. "We found the time was so limited. Brazil is an important country, as Egypt is interested in learning from its experience in many fields, including agriculture, garbage recycling and renewable energy," a presidential statement said at that time.
The two leaders first met on March 27 at the BRICS summit in South Africa. Endi
