Egypt has summoned the Israeli ambassador in Cairo over reported mistreatment of Egyptian embassy staff in Tel Aviv, official MENA news agency reported Wednesday.
The Egyptian embassy staff were on their way to participate in the Easter Mass in the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem when they were "badly treated" by the Israeli side, according to the report.
Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Amr Roushdy said in a statement that Egyptian government has summoned Israeli ambassador to Egypt, Yaakov Amitai, to protest over the incident.
Egypt condemned Israel's recent raids into the Syrian lands, rejecting "Israeli aggression over the sovereignty of any Arab country."
Cairo also slammed the detaining of Jerusalem's Mufti by Israel, demanding his immediate release. Endi
