Pakistan said on Thursday that the conflict with Afghanistan over construction of a border post has been resolved.

Clashes took place between border forces of the two countries in recent weeks which left an Afghan soldier dead and several Pakistani troops injured.

The Afghan government accused the Pakistan army of constructing a border post on the Afghan side while Pakistan insisted that it has renovated one of its old posts on its own side of the border.

"The issue of border post has been resolved," said Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesman Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry.

The spokesman told his weekly briefing that Pakistan has been emphasizing the need for effective border management to interdict undesirable cross-border activity.

Pakistan is in regular contact with Afghan authorities, including military to military contact, he said.

Replying to a question about the upcoming visit to Pakistan by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, the spokesman said that no details of the visit are available as yet.

Pakistan and the United States enjoy mutually collaborative relationship, he said, adding, "Pakistan would like to have good relations with the United States based on mutual respect and mutual benefits." Endi
