Iran's vice president for parliamentary affairs voiced on Thursday support for a political solution to the two-year-old Syrian conflict.

"There is only one way to solve the Syrian crisis and it is the political solution and to engage in dialogue," Sayyed Mohammad Reza Mir-Tajeddini told reporters after a meeting with Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati here.

"We have similar views with the prime minister concerning the situation in Syria and we think that the development of the movements that the Arab countries have witnessed and what was known as Arab Spring, differ completely of what we are witnessing in Syria," he said.

The Iranian official accused the United States and Israel for the worsening situation in Syria, condemning the "U.S. and Zionist axis as being a party in the Syrian crisis and the one working on keeping the bloodshed ongoing to move Syria away from the resistance axis."

Mir-Tajeddini visited Lebanon to attend a conference on Islamic unity with the participation of key religious figures from various Islamic and Arab countries. Endi
