UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon, on a visit to Russia, is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Friday, a UN spokesman said here Thursday.
"The secretary-general arrived in the Russian Federation earlier on Thursday," deputy UN spokesman Eduardo del Buey said at a daily news briefing, adding that Ban is in Sochi on Russia's Black Sea coast on Thursday and he is scheduled to meet with the Russian president and foreign minister there Friday.
During the upcoming meeting with the Russian leaders, the secretary-general is expected to discuss with them the Syrian crisis, which broke out in March 2011.
"After his visit to Russia ends on May 19, the secretary- general will travel to Mozambique," del Buey said.
"During his stay in the capital Maputo, the secretary-general will hold talks with Mozambican government officials, including President Armando Guebuza and Foreign Minister Oldemiro Baloi," he said.
The secretary-general will conclude his visit to Mozambique on May 22, he added. Endi
