Lebanon condemns rockets attack from Syria

Lebanese President Michel Suleiman condemned Sunday the alleged rockets attack by Syria on the Bekaa town of Hermel.

In a statement issued by the presidential media office, Suleiman stressed the need for "all warring parties in Syria to respect Lebanon's sovereignty and avoid military acts against Lebanese border areas."

Earlier on Sunday, several rockets landed in and around the town of Hermel from Syria, as Syrian troops, backed by Hezbollah fighters, reportedly launched an assault on the rebel-held central city of al-Qussair.

Meanwhile, Suleiman described the latest Israeli overflights and mock raids over south Lebanon as "a new violation of UN resolution 1701." Endi
