The Arab Ministerial Committee on Syria is holding an emergency meeting Thursday here in the headquarters of Cairo-based Arab League (AL) to discuss efforts exerted to bring an end to the Syrian crisis.

The meeting is expected to draw up an Arab unified decision on Syria for being submitted to the international Geneva II conference, slated for next month.

"The meeting came due to the different Arab opinions around the Geneva II conference," a well-placed source at the AL told Xinhua.

The source reiterated that this conference will be the "last chance" for resolving the Syrian conflict.

"The AL believes it is necessary for all Syrian sides to resolve the crisis on a negotiation table," said the source.

Present at the meeting are foreign ministers and diplomats from Qatar, Algeria, Egypt, Sudan, Oman, Iraq, Kuwait, United Arab of Emirates, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

On Wednesday, the Friends of Syrian group held a meeting in Jordan, calling for a transitional government as a way to end the cycle of violence and preparing for holding an international conference in Geneva in June. Endi
