The twelve-member Nepalese government of technocrats headed by chief justice Khila Raj Regmi has "no wish" to make the property details of its ministers, including Chairman Regmi himself, a high ranking official said on Sunday.

All the members of interim election council have so far furnished their property reports at the office of the prime minister and council of ministers (OPMCM) but publicizing such details depends upon the "wish" of individual members of the cabinet, Krishna Hari Baskota, secretary of OPMCM told Xinhua.

As there is no mandatory legal provision to publicize property details of the members of cabinet, it depends on to the individual minister whether or not to make it public, he added.

The earlier Baburam Bhattarai-led government had been following the common tradition of publicizing the updated statements of the properties of the prime minister and the individual ministers.

The anti-graft law of the country has directed each individual who joins a public office to declare the asset details of their family members as well.

"The practice of disclosing the property details indeed promotes good governance, but once a public office bearer furnishes the details to concerned office, we cannot force them to make it public," Keshav Prasad Ghimire, assistant spokesperson of Commission for Investigation of the Abuse of Authority (CIAA) said.

All of the former Prime ministers of Republic Nepal, Baburam Bhattarai, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal and Puspha Kamal Dahal had publicized their property details during their tenure. Endi
