Philippine President Benigno Aquino III has ordered concerned government agencies to inspect the establishments in the country with centralized liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) distribution system, a senior government official said Monday.

The check is aimed at preventing the explosion similar to what happened in a posh condominium in Metro Manila which claimed three lives.

In a news briefing, Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said that Aquino tasked the departments in charge of Energy, Public Works and Highways, Science and Technology, and other agencies to do the work.

"What we have seen here is a cooperation between the private sector and the government insofar as ensuring the safety of the residents and also those users," he said.

Lacierda said that the local government units have also the mandate to inspect establishments in their respective areas.

The government inter-agency task force that investigated the May 31 explosion in Two Serendra in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, found that the powerful blast was caused by a gas leak and not by a bomb.

The Two Serendra was using a centralized pipe-in LPG system.

Three people on board a delivery van were killed when a slab from the fifth floor of Two Serendra fell on the passing vehicle. Five other people were injured in the tragedy. Endi
