Myanmar's Labor Ministry has suspended two overseas employment agencies out of 12 to send workers to Thailand for their failure to settle labor issue occurring in the neighboring country, local daily the 7-Day reported Sunday.

The two agencies are People Choice and Brave Dragon.

The other 10 agencies were allowed to resume operation after being able to settle such issues.

Nearly 4 million Myanmar workers are being employed in foreign countries, accounting for 10-12 percent of Myanmar's population.

A large number of Myanmar youth graduates including various nationalities from both urban and rural areas across the country are working abroad.

The number of Myanmar immigrants is growing day by day which is blamed for lack of jobs and inadequacy of families at home.

For the fact that Myanmar migrant workers are faced with high cost of living, lack of health care guarantee, lack of workers rights and exploitation over salaries by employers, brokers and supervisors, the parliament is proposed to adopt a migration policy for ensuring social security of Myanmar migrant workers in any foreign country.

There are 137 licensed overseas employment service agencies and 14 local's in Myanmar, according to the Labor Department. Endite
