Seoul shares ended slightly lower on Tuesday.

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand shares rose after a strong rebound in the Australian market which helped lift companies with significant business across the Tasman, including Fletcher Building.

TOKYO -- Nikkei ended at its one-month high above the 14,000 mark Tuesday as a series of positive economic data fueled optimism about solid recovery in Japan and the United States.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 246.24 points, or 1.78 percent, from Monday to 14,098.74, the highest closing level since May 29.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 21.14 points, or 1.84 percent, at 1, 171.84.
