Militants attack Syria's Homs refinery, gas pipeline damaged

A group of armed men fired rockets at a main refinery in Syria's central province of Homs on Saturday, causing damage in some of the gas pipelines inside the facility, the state-TV reported.

The report spelled no further details.

Homs is now the center of the government troops' attention as they are fighting furious battles against the western-backed rebels, mainly in the al-Khalidieh and Joret al-Shaiah districts.

Homs Refinery Company, the first refinery in Syria, came into operation in 1959 with a capacity of one million ton per year of light crude oil.
