Big-spending Russian football club Zenit St. Petersburg have expressed their interest in Borussia Dortmund's Polish striker Robert Lewandowski and his Serbian teammate, defender Neven Subotic.
The St. Petersburg club has said it is willing to spend up to 70 million euros on the pair after Lewandowski in particular complained to the German media that he was less than satisfied with the Dortmund football environment.
Other European clubs, including Bayern Munich, have also expressed serious interest in Lewandowski in recent times, although Zenit's combined offer of 70 million euros for Lewandowski and Subotic goes beyond anything offered so far by their rivals.
As Zenit searches for a winning formula after a slow start to the 2013-14 Russian Premier League season, fears of disquiet among Zenit's Russian players, already unhappy with the multi-million- dollar deals offered to Brazilian striker Hulk and Belgian midfielder Alex Witsel last year, have resurfaced.
