France is mulling a new tax on air tickets to fund an express train service from the city of Paris to its airport Charles de Gaulle (CDG), the French transport ministry said on Monday.
Speaking to French news daily Le Figaro, Transport Minister Frederic Cuvillier said a sum of 400 million euros (532 million U.S. dollars) out of the total 1.7 billion euros is expected from the new ticket tax to invest for the "CDG Express."
It is foreseen as an express rail service linking Paris to Charles de Gaulle airport in the eastern suburb of France's capital.
He revealed that a decision on the project which is close to be underway would be made in the next couple of weeks.
The project's backers, including the state-owned ADP Paris airport operator and three public transportation companies, hope the project could be completed within the next decade. (1 euro = 1.33 U.S. dollars) Endi
