One of the most renowned fashion designers in Greece, Michalis Aslanis, was found dead in his apartment in Athens on Wednesday.
The cause of death of the 65-year-old designer is still unclear. According to police sources, the possibility of suicide by pill overdose is under investigation.
Aslanis was facing severe financial problems since the start of the Greek debt crisis three years ago and was forced to sell many of his properties to cover debts.
In an interview in Greek media this summer, he had said he had become the victim of fraud by two of his aides who had been managing his financial transactions for years.
Aslanis became famous for his signature feature of ethnic themes in haute couture. His clothes had been featured in shows from Paris and Milan to Moscow and Canada.
Regarded as "Greece's national fashion designer" in recent years, he designed the uniforms of employees in the Athens International Airport among others. Endi
