Tokyo stocks opened sharply higher Tuesday with Nikkei hitting a three-week high on weaker yen and firmer European equities.
At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 226.96 points, or 1.67 percent, from Monday at 13,799.88, its highest intraday level since Aug. 15.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 20.02 points, or 1.79 percent, at 1, 137.80. Endi
