Obama calls Kenyan president over terror attack

U.S. President Barack Obama called Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta Sunday to express his condolences to the government and people of Kenya after the attack on a shopping mall in Kenyan capital Nairobi.

According to a statement released by the White House, Obama reiterated that the U.S. supports Kenya's efforts to bring the perpetrators of the attack to justice.

Obama also reaffirmed the shared commitment between the United States and Kenya to combating terrorism and promoting peace and prosperity in East Africa and around the world.

The Kenya Red Cross Society confirmed Sunday that death toll in the Saturday terrorist attack carried out by al-Shabaab in the Westgate shopping mall of Nairobi has soared to 68. Endi
