Indonesia and Finland agreed to extend an existing cooperation in biomass development for another four years after the two countries initiated the cooperation for the 2011-2014 period, Indonesian Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik said here on Friday.

Speaking on the sidelines of his meeting with the visiting Finnish Economic Affairs Minister Jan Vapaavouri here, Jero said that development of biomass energy in Indonesia was designated to fuel power generators.

He added that Finland was glad to provide assistance in helping Indonesia transforming waste to energy.

Jero added that Finland provided three million Euro worth of assistance program during the initial period ending 2014, aimed at helping Indonesia in transforming garbage and waste to biomass as an alternative energy source.

The visiting Finnish minister said that Finland was greatly backed up by biomass in managing its energy sustainability, as the alternative energy fuels 80 percent of the country's power plants.

He said that Finland has decades-long experience in transforming waste into biomass energy. Endi
