The Iranian Customs Administration has removed duties on saffron exports, Tehran Times reported on Tuesday.

Exports of saffron at any volume and amount will be free of duties, the administration said in a statement on Monday.

The move is aimed at increasing the exports of Iranian saffron significantly.

The secretary of the Iranian National Saffron Council, Farshid Manouchehri, said earlier that Iran's saffron exports would increase by 15 percent in the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 21.

Iran exported 126 tons of saffron, valued at 384 million U.S. dollars, in the past Iranian calendar year, said Manouchehri.

Iran is the main producer of saffron in the world and provide for 95 percent of the global demand. The product is exported to Spain and the United Arab Emirates to be processed, packed and distributed globally. Endi
