An undersea earthquake measuring 6.4 magnitude shook Tonga on Sunday, the United States Geological Survey said. There was no immediate report of casualty or damage.

The epicenter of the quake, which struck at 7:53 a.m. local time(16:53 Saturday GMT) from a depth of 10 kilometers, was traced 152 kilometers southeast of Neiafu, Tonga, said the USGS.

An aftershock of 5.4 magnitude occured.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not immediately issue a tsunami warning or watch based on the quake.

Tonga lies on the so-called Pacific "Ring of Fire", an arc of earthquake and volcanic zones where continental plates collide producing frequent seismic activity. Endi
