U.S. retail and food services sales posted a solid gain in October, boosted by sales of autos, furniture and electronic products, the U.S. Department of Commerce reported on Wednesday.
The department said the combined retail and food services sales in October increased 0.4 percent from the prior month to a seasonally adjusted 428.1 billion U.S. dollars.
Excluding volatile sales of autos, retail and food services sales totaled 346.2 billion dollars in October, 0.2 percent higher than the previous month.
The increase in retail sales excluding vehicles indicated that the U.S. consumer spending, which accounts for about 70 percent of the total economic activities, maintained its momentum. Endi
