An awesome opening ceremony of the 27th Southeast Asian Games marked Myanmar's openness to the international community after the country's about 50 years of stagnation and closeness as it depicts its quick emergence.

"The ceremony is awesome and brilliant. It gives me a mix of excitement, happiness and so on like a blend of various feelings," said Myanmar's famous singer Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein.

"We would not have done it great on our own. Because of China's help, it becomes a really proud thing that will shine through ASEAN countries and the world," she added.

Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein appeared on the stage in the opening ceremony to entertain the 30,000 VIPs and spectators before the kick-off time.

She said that the country needs to perform such a great thing to show the world that Myanmar is also with them on the earth, especially in the democratic era after being internationally forgotten under the military rule.

She was also deeply impressed by the fireworks the Chinese experts have set up as one-minute display of fireworks.

The 27th Southeast Asian Games opened on Wednesday evening at Nay Pyi Taw's Wunna Theikdi stadium and will run through Dec. 22, with competitions being held in four different places, namely Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay and Nge Saung beach in Pathein.

The SEA Games features 33 sports, awarding 460 golds, 460 silvers, and 637 bronze medals.

Over 6,000 athletes and officials from 11 ASEAN countries and regions participate in the biggest biennial tournament of the region. Endi
