Myanmar boxers swept four gold medals in the final bouts of Muay here on Saturday at the 27th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Muay is Thailand traditional boxing, equivalent of international boxing but Muay allows the boxers to use kicks either with knee or with foot.

Among the final bouts of various weight categories, Myanmar spectators specially came to see the last bout in which the country's well-known boxer Saw Nga Mann, who entered the ring with the announcement of his formal name 'Aung Myint Win', fought with Malaysia's Mohd Faizal in 75kg class.

Saw Nga Mann's boxing style was not what the people used to see in Myanmar traditional bouts, he was trying to throw Faizal away.

The three-round bout finished very fast before the spectators could not satisfy their enthusiasm, but the winner is not Saw Nga Mann as the host fans had speculated, to the amazement of all.

Men's 71kg bout between Myanmar's Htun Htun Min and Indonesia's Indra Ashari Jaya was more thrilling unexpectedly.

Hla Yin May in women's 48 kg, Saw Dar Pot in men's 54 kg, and Maung Htoo in men's 67kg swept golds for host Myanmar.

Myanmar boxers as strong in participation as 20 compete in Muay while the event stages a total number of 80 boxers from seven countries.

Muay awards 14 golds, 14 silvers, and 28 bronzes and is scheduled from Dec 16-21. Endi
