Seoul shares ended higher on Monday.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 9. 06 points, or 0.45 percent, to close at 2,011.34. Trading volume stood at 167.78 million shares worth 3.17 trillion won (3 billion U.S. dollars).

TAIPEI -- Taiwan's share prices closed higher Monday with the weighted index up 88.39 points, or 1.04 percent, at 8,623.43, according to news reaching here from Taipei.
Turnover totaled 87.64 billion new Taiwan dollars (2.93 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks ended 0.69 percent higher on Monday, the last trading day of 2013, extending its winning streak to the ninth straight session on weaker yen and expectations for global economic recovery.
The turnover was 2209.9 billion yen (about 20.99 billion U.S. dollars).

SHANGHAI -- China's benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange closed down 0.18 percent, or 3.72 points, to finish at 2,097.53 on Monday.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 500.35 points on Monday, down 6.06 points, or 1.2 percent, against last Friday's closing session.
About 94.287 million shares worth 1.608 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (76.21 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange.

Turnover declined to 1.29 billion shares valued at 1.27 billion million ringgit Malaysia (385.32 million U.S. dollars).
