BERLIN, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) - The crisis in Syria, the Iranian nuclear issue and the worldwide debate about Internet security are central themes at the 50th Munich Security Conference in just over a week, the conference leader Wolfgang Ischinger announced on Wednesday in Munich.
Ischinger expects from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2 nearly 20 heads of state and government, more than 50 foreign ministers and defense ministers as well as security experts from all around the world will arrive for the conference.
President of Germany Joachim Gauck will deliver the opening speech and German federal government will be represented by Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen and Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere.
In addition, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Pentagon chief Chuck Hagel, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iran Foreign Minister Mohammed Jawad Sharif are expected at the conference.
Other topics including the transatlantic relations and energy security will also be discussed at the 50th Munich Security Conference. Endi
