French police arrest 8 volunteers for jihad in Syria: media

French Police on Monday arrested eight people for attempting to join Jihadists in Syria, local media reported.

According to RTL radio, the group of volunteers suspected to go fight against Syrian government forces were arrested in north and southeast of Paris.

Aged between 20 and 30 years old, they were questioned by the Central Directorate of Internal Intelligence and their custody could last 96 hours, the report said.

In fresh wave of French adolescent leaving to fight with Islamist rebel groups in Syria, two 15-year-old nationals have left France in January to join militants in the Arab country.

About 700 French nationals and residents had traveled to fight in Syria, according to official data. Endi
