Russia has told some western suppliers to bypass the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda when ship food products, Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius said Thursday.

"It's no longer possible to re-export or export food products to Russia via all the terminals of the port of Klaipeda, as said on the note that the terminals have received," said the prime minister, according to local media.

"Some western food suppliers of Russia have also received such a note," he said.

"A U.S. company which used to ship poultry legs to Russia through Klaipeda was told to export via other ports," he added, and the ports "do not belong to Lithuania and certain other countries."

Klaipeda is the Baltic country's major port through which more than one million tons of food products are shipped to Russia each year, according to the primr minister. Endi
